A combination of French and Italian styling, the ‘BOATILUS’ brand is a response to a need that exists as parents: ingenious and original footwear for our children and yours. For many years, the founders have been developing the different ‘BOATILUS’ lines by seeking concrete solutions in material choices and shoe design: recycled and naturally-sourced components, innovative materials, single-piece construction for some models, and ongoing work to improve recyclability.

‘BOATILUS’ also took part in developing a biodegradable*soft polymer, as well as fibres, yarns and textiles made from recycled water bottles, used to produce linings, as well as T-shirts and jackets… (*BIODEGRADABLE — tested to EN 13432:2000).
In extreme cold, ‘BOATILUS’ winter boots feature a felt insole made from recycled PET bottles and a black fleece lining, also made from recycled PET bottles, combined with an ALUPROTECT membrane*, or a warm mulesing-free virgin wool lining. Both versions have a waterproof, super-flexible sole, patented** in Mégol®, a super flexible Italian thermo-rubber tested down to -40°C/F. These materials provide comfort, warmth and genuine insulation.

At a time when only a limited number of materials are genuinely recycled at scale in Europe : glass, aluminium, cardboard, PET bottles and PVC. ‘BOATILUS’ chose PVC and developed BOATIGUM®, an exclusive Italian qualitative compound that is ultra-soft, recyclable and scented with a food-grade Italian lemon zest essence. Crafted and produced in Italy, this innovative material combines recycled PET, natural Italian calcium and food-grade Italian lemon zest essence, valued for its naturally antimicrobial properties. ‘BOATILUS’ sandals, and the BIOTY model in particular, are specially designed to support babies’ and children’s feet. Made as a single piece (monobloc) to limit the mixing of different materials and support recyclability, they combine an ergonomic “BAREFOOT Design” shape, a genuine patented* shock-absorbing feature, a non-slip sole, and an easy on/off pull tab, delivering comfort, freedom of movement, and everyday well-being…

The ‘BOATILUS’ collection expands in 2022.
Scented flip-flops, the DINGY, made with recycled oyster shell powder from French Brittany! Classic sneakers, the DS, and leather fussbett sandals, the IRKY, with a rugged thermo-rubber sole recycled in Italy from used soles and other waste materials.
And warm, ultra-flexible rain boots, the PENGUY, with a warm fleece lining made from recycled PET bottles, or the SEALS, with a mulesing-free virgin wool lining.
Starting in 2023, the ‘BOATILUS’ beach sandal and ankle boot collection has been expanding every year with new lines…
The CLOGGY clog, the IRKYVEG sandal, the SLIDY slide, the ROCKSY slide, the EASYVEG sneaker, and the BABYBEATLY Chelsea boot… Designed from the outset with recyclability in mind, all these new styles are made as a single piece to limit the mixing of different materials and support recyclability, and are produced in BOATIGUM®, an exclusive scented Italian material that is ultra-soft !.

BOATILUS COMMUNITY
Once your ‘BOATILUS’ have been worn, they can continue their journey.
Within this community of parents, you can give them away, swap them or resell them so that another child can enjoy them.
When they finally reach the end of their life, they can be brought to shoe collection points or recycling points*. Thanks to the TRIMAN logo under the sole and the n°3 PVC material code, they can be easily identified, and may then be recycled and reused, notably in the manufacture of flexible products such as electrical cables, car mats or hosepipes…
